Sunset Swings 460GN — Teak Wood Care & Poly Replacement Options

Keeping Your 6-Person Picnic Table Glider Beautiful for Years to Come

One of my favorite things about the Sunset Swings 460GN is that it's so much more than an ordinary patio swing.

With its beautiful Indonesian teak wood picnic table, comfortable gliding benches, and large overhead canopy, it's a wonderful place for family conversations, morning coffee, evening cocktails, or simply enjoying the outdoors together.

But here in Arizona, our intense sunshine and dry climate can be tough on natural teak wood.

The good news? Keeping your 460GN looking beautiful is easier than you might think!

Step 1 — A Little Light Sanding

If your teak picnic table, bench seating, or wooden backrests begin feeling rough or dry, try using fine 320–400 grit sandpaper.

A cordless Ryobi orbital sander on a low setting works beautifully, but a simple hand sanding block works just fine.

Remember, we're not trying to grind down the wood! We're simply smoothing those little rough spots caused by weathering. Avoid sanding through an existing protective finish.

Step 2 — Remove the Dust

Use a small blower or clean cloth to remove all the fine sanding dust.

You don't want that dust mixing with your wood treatment and creating a paste!

Step 3 — Protect Your Teak

Check your teak every three months, or as needed, especially during Arizona's hotter months.

Using a clean painter's rag, apply a suitable outdoor wood preservative. If your wood has an oil finish, a compatible teak oil can be applied following the product directions.

Wipe away excess, allow it to dry completely, and reapply when recommended.

No painter's tape, giant sprayer, or painting suit required!

We're maintaining a beautiful swing, not repainting the house!

Restore. Refresh. Keep enjoying.

Want Less Maintenance? Ask About Poly Replacement Parts!

Here's something exciting for existing Sunset Swings 460GN owners.

You don't necessarily need to replace your entire picnic table swing just because the original teak is showing its age.

Ask Patio Vault about 460GN composite wood replacement kits, including synthetic wood alternatives for the table and bench components.

If you're searching for poly lumber or synthetic wood replacement parts, we can help you explore available options and confirm compatibility with your swing.

They're a great option for customers who love their Sunset Swing but would rather spend less time sanding and oiling natural wood.

Component availability and compatibility must be confirmed for your swing before ordering.

Looking Ahead to 2027 — Poly Wood Upgrades

The upcoming 2027 Sunset Swings models are planned to feature lower-maintenance poly-style wood components in place of traditional teak.

If you already own a 460GN, ask us about available replacement components and restoration options, along with the latest information about planned model updates.

After all, there's no reason to give up a perfectly good swing just because the wood needs a little attention!

Enjoy Your Investment!

Your Sunset Swings 460GN picnic table glider was made for making memories.

Whether you're maintaining the natural beauty of your original teak or exploring lower-maintenance composite replacements, a little care today can help you continue enjoying your swing for years to come.
